“Low-rise high-Density               sprawl vs. city”

The workshop was held together with Gianfranco Guaragna, Luigi Di Dato and Claudio Meninno. Visting lecturers where Yoshiuki Amino (“Building with Easy Materials – Change Small Lumbers into Architecture”), GEZA – Gri e Zucchi Architetti Associati and AMBER – Massimo Bertolano.

“Flexibel olympic buildings for Sochi 2014, light-fast-clean”
2008/09, Design workshop at TU Vienna

“Teaching Sustainability through Involvement”
2007, Teaching in Architecture Conference, Krems, with Rupert Hebblethwaite.
The ghettoisation of “sustainability” within architectural education is symptomatic of the 20th century tendency towards fragmentation and “silo-thinking”. The search for ways of returning “sustainability” to its rightful place at the heart of architectural education is symptomatic of the 21st century tendency towards reintegration.
Our aim is to promote a paradigm change whereby sustainability ceases to be treated as a series of abstract technological issues and is re-established at the core of the cultural debate. The mechanism for this paradigm change is the city.

“Cognitive Cities: interdisciplinary approach reconsidering the process of (re)inventing urban habitat”
2007, CORP-Conference participation, Vienna.
Due to a series of economical, ecological and social factors, as well as the change in climatic conditions and the distribution of resources, by which we are all affected, and as a result of ongoing globalization, 75% of the world’s population will be living in cities and urban settlements within the next 25 years. New planning tools are needed and this paper will address an interdisciplinary approach reconsidering the process of (re) inventing urban habitat.
